Who we are

LugaCinema is a streaming service for VJ-translated movies and series, operated in Uganda. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean LugaCinema, and “you” means anyone who visits the site or holds an account. Questions about this policy can be sent to support@lugacinema.com.

What we collect

  • Account information — your email address and the display name you choose when you register.
  • Payment information — the phone number you pay from and a record of each transaction (plan, amount, date, status, and the payment reference). Card numbers and mobile-money PINs are entered on Pesapal's hosted payment page and are never seen or stored by us.
  • Watch activity — which titles you watch and how far you got, so we can resume playback where you left off and show you a useful home page.
  • Device and sign-in state — we keep a signed session token in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in. It never leaves your device except to authenticate requests you make.

How we use it

  • To run the service: create your account, play videos, resume playback, and remember preferences.
  • To take and verify payments, and to extend your plan when a payment completes.
  • To keep the service safe — for example, detecting abuse of accounts or payment endpoints.
  • To answer support messages you send us.

Payments

Payments are processed by Pesapal. When you pay, your payment details are provided to Pesapal directly on their hosted payment page; we receive only the confirmation that a payment succeeded, together with the payer phone number you supplied. Pesapal's own privacy policy governs how they handle your payment information.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that run LugaCinema — video and image delivery, the database that stores your account, and the payment provider — and when required by law or a lawful request from a court or regulator.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account is open, because the data above is what makes the service work. If you close your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information within a reasonable period, keeping only what we must for accounting and dispute records.

Your choices and rights

  • You can ask us to delete your account and personal data at any time by emailing support@lugacinema.com from the address on the account.
  • You can clear your browser's local storage to remove the sign-in token and preferences stored on your device.
  • You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it.

These rights reflect Uganda's Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019. We will respond to verified requests within the time the law allows.

Children

LugaCinema is intended for people aged 18 and over. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy in a material way, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email.
